About This Spot
Stepping into Burger Tex feels like slipping into a cherished neighborhood tradition, where the pace slows just enough for you to savor a meal that’s crafted with care and familiarity. Nestled comfortably along N Eldridge Parkway, this unassuming burger joint carries an air of warmth—part local hangout, part family table—where the scent of fresh patties on the grill welcomes you before the bell on the door even rings.
The rhythm here is simple and unhurried, inviting you to settle in and watch the evening unfold alongside friendly faces. It’s the kind of place that balances the charm of a home kitchen with the lively buzz of a neighborhood staple. You might find yourself drawn to the counter, catching the satisfying sizzle of patties meeting the griddle, or choosing a seat inside where the ambience feels familiar, like your favorite sweater on a cool day.
What sets Burger Tex apart is the way every bite seems to tell a story of thoughtful ingredients and the grace of straightforward cooking. The buns, evidently homemade, cradle patties that come alive with freshness — each one less about flashy showmanship and more about honoring the craft. Whether accompanied by golden, crispy onion rings or complemented by a well-poured cheeseburger combo, the food doesn’t shout for attention; it earns it quietly, through honest flavor and reliable comfort.
It’s clear from the atmosphere and the steady flow of regulars that this is more than just a spot for a quick meal. It’s a shared space where connections happen amid familiar smells and familiar smiles. The folks behind the counter know their patrons by name, and their easygoing service reflects a genuine pride in a job well done. Whether you drop by for a casual lunch or a relaxed dinner, Burger Tex offers a moment of pause — a place to enjoy good food, good company, and the subtle joy of something well made.

Eaten here two or three times and every time the food is EXCEPTIONAL! Everyone is super friendly and helpful! Met the owner and nothing but good things to say! 10/10 will continue to eat here ! They offer drive thru and TOGO but I recommend eating inside because it feels like Grandma made burgers! Hottest freshest patties you can watch them cook! Bread feels like homemade too and it probably is!

First time trying Burger Tex and it did not disappoint! The free flowing nacho cheese was an unexpected delight. I went with the mushroom burger with pepper jack. The bun was fresh and homemade that morning. One of the best burgers I’ve had in Houston.

Not sure what happened to the reviews but this place use to have thousands of reviews and it was rated like a 4.8. This place has one of the best burgers in town. They’re simple and that’s what makes them so great. They don’t need to be fancy with them to make them taste amazing. Ingredients are always fresh, service is always great and the staff is always very friendly. We usually get burgers but they also sell an amazing fish and chicken sandwich and the onion rings are extra crispy. We always ask for buns to be toasted on both sides and for the fries to be fried extra. We have been coming here since 1996 and it never misses and always hits the spot. Definitely come try!

Been coming to this burger joint for awhile when I worked in the area and still try to come as often as I can. Burgers are always delicious and crinkle cut fries make for a great cheap quick lunch. This family ran burger joint is my go to burger place for lunch!

Ordered the 4 oz and 6 oz burgers and they were superb! The bread and patty freshly prepared, juicy and full of flavor. 2 stars for atmosphere as there were few flies on the toppings area on the veggies and a bit of a pungent smell in the restaurant. Since this was our first time here, i was very skeptical if we would get sick thankfully we didnt. Not sure if we would be back but the burgers were definitely very good.

We stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon after reading some good reviews about this Burger spot. The restaurant has a very nostalgic feel from the mid 90's. From the signage to the interior and exterior, you can tell they've been in business for almost 30 years. The restaurant was pretty packed, and even though it was our first time visiting, you could tell most of the customers were regulars. We ordered a couple of 6 oz cheese burgers along with some fries and drinks. The prices were very reasonable, and I can tell you a little bit more about that later. As we were ordering, I recognized that the ladies behind the counter were speaking Korean, so I greeted them in the native language and told them we stopped by after reading the commendable feedback. The lady at the register suggested that we go straight for the burgers our first go around, and we were not disappointed. They call your number when the burgers and fries are freshly made to order and allow you to build your own burger with the selection of veggies and condiments. The complimentary nacho cheese for the fries or burgers was a nice touch. While we were finishing up with our meals, the lady came by our table and said hello to our baby while asking us how our experience was. We told her the burgers were delicious and filled us up quite nicely. After our friendly conversation, we found out how long they have been in business, and also that they keep the prices low for regular customers and the customers that work at the factories near the restaurant. They strive to stay consistent with the quality of food while making sure their customers can enjoy a nice home style meal without breaking the bank, especially with the instabilities of the economy. Maybe they can renovate the restaurant whenever they feel like they need to, but we will definitely be back regardless to support a family owned business that has a friendly staff and actually cares about the community that surrounds them.

Been here about 20 times. This place is one of those iconic gems in Houston. I'm in love with their bun. It's freshly baked in-store, slightly toasted with butter on the outside giving it an ever-so slight crunch while maintaining it soft and cloudy on the inside. I'd go as far as to say that they have the best hamburger bun I've tried in all of Houston. The beef burgers are excellent, Bulgogi burger is fantastic, and I love the chicken sandwiches as well. The condiment bar is always clean and I appreciate the sauce options. The runny cheese for the fries is a fantastic addition too. AND don't forget to try their fried onion rings. The batter is made in-house and coated every morning. The owners are some of the kindest people I've met. The staff is friendly and very helpful as well.
